Future events 2011-12 and 2012-13

Future events

In the belief that bringing together existing groups of researchers is the most effective way of building a truly inter-disciplinary, collaborative research culture, we have approached leaders of other research groups to propose that we co-sponsor conferences. So far we have agreed on the following:

• we hosted a meeting with the Norwegian Research Council-funded "Flammable Societies" project team and made plans for a joint conference on "Citizenship in Oil-Producing Societies" at Aberdeen in November 2011.
• we have drawn up a brief with with the Centre for Early Modern Studies for a joint conference in June 2012 on "Modernity and the Category of Religion: Early Modern Antecedents".
• we met in December with Dr Tom Weber, director of the Centre for Global Uncertainties, to plan a joint conference in 2012-13 on "Define Extremism".

We are always open to suggestions for other events, whether CISRUL-only or co-sponsored events.
