Prospective Students

Celtic and Gaelic offer single, joint, and combined MA degrees, as well as opportunities for postgraduate study. The links on the left will provide you with information about the study of Celtic and Gaelic, the degree programmes offered, the teaching and assessment methods used, and importantly, why Aberdeen is an excellent place for Celtic and Gaelic studies.  Also take the opportunity to attend an open day hosted by the University so you can visit us and experience life on campus and in the city.

Students of Celtic and Gaelic are at the heart of the Aberdeen University Celtic Society (Comann Ceilteach Oilthigh Obar Dheathain), which was founded in 1853 as a way to celebrate the Gaelic language, music and culture. Today the society holds social events for any students with an interest in Gaelic culture and it promotes and supports the use of Gaelic on campus. It holds fortnightly traditional music sessions in the Blue Lamp bar, regular ceilidh dances and a spectacular end of year Celtic Ball.
