Offshore Energy Development: Legal and Regulatory Challenges

Project

Eight studentships will be awarded across 4 topic areas in the fields of energy, regulation and environmental law to commence in academic years 2012-13 and 2013-14. Each studentship will address a different aspect of the legal and regulatory challenges to offshore energy development, including hydrocarbon and renewable energy development. Key topic areas include: (1) innovation, marine planning and regulatory intersections in renewable energy delivery; (2) European species protection and renewable energy development; (3) contested waters and energy development; and (4) health, safety and environmental challenges to offshore energy development.

Awards

In this inaugural year of the project 2013/14, we invite applications for 4 PhD studentships from high achieving students to join us in pursuing rigorous disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary research into these questions.

Application Process

A normal application for admission to the PhD programme is required and applicants should make explicit note their interest in being considered for a 'Offshore Energy Development Studentship' in their application materials. Information about application procedures can be found here: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/postgraduate/apply.php

Deadline

All application materials must be received by 8 March 2013.
