How to Apply

When submitting your Postgraduate Application Form, you should quote the appropriate project code under 'Intended Source of Funding' (if using the downloadable form) or 'Name of Proposed Supervisor' (if applying online). Please remember that you are strongly advised to contact the Principal Investigator of the project, or another member of the supervisory team, to discuss your research proposal before applying to the University.

General notes on Research Project Awards

Subject to satisfactory progress, the awards for PhD research Students are tenable for up to three years.

Subject to satisfactory progress, the awards for Masters Students are tenable for up to one year.

For both PhD Research Students and Masters Students, where tuition fees are greater than the amount of the award, e.g. where an Overseas student is awarded a Home fees studentship, then students are fully responsible for paying the difference in the amount of tuition fees required. For more information about the circumstances under which students are permitted to hold two simultaneous awards from different sources, please see Frequently Asked Questions.

Part-time awards are pro-rata.

All applications will be considered on the basis of academic merit.
