Career Development Scholarship Scheme
The CASS Career Development Scholarship Scheme has been developed in order to provide our PhD students with adequate and demonstrable training in the range of activities and skills relevant to a career in academia. In return for a fee waiver, students will undertake career development activities in four broad areas in the four semesters of their second and third years. The activities will be based on a target of 30 hours in the semester and, ideally, a student will finish their PhD with demonstrable experience in three of the four areas:
Teaching
Public Engagement
Entrepreneurship
Research
This obligation will be on any student in receipt of a College-funded fee waiver from September 2013 onwards, regardless of how the overall scholarship is branded i.e. an RPAS student with a fee waiver and stipend would need to fulfil this scheme for the fee waiver element. Students in receipt of a College-funded fee waiver starting in September 2012 will have the opportunity to opt in to the scheme.
