Policy on Allocation of Desks to Postgraduate Research Students
Full-time PhD students and those on a 1+3 programme may be allocated a desk by their School, subject to the space available. Students may only occupy a desk for the duration of their fee-paying period. At the end of the supervised period, students will be required to vacate their desk, even if they have not yet submitted their thesis. Full-time students who suspend their studies will be asked to vacate their desk during the suspension, and will be reallocated a study space when they return to work.
Part-time PhD students and students registered for a Masters programme with no view to subsequent PhD are not entitled to a desk.
Exceptions
Where the School feels there is a case for an exception to be made and for a desk to be allocated to a student who would not normally be eligible for one, the Head of School needs to request approval from the College Office. The final decision rests with the Director of the Graduate School and the College Registrar or Deputy College Registrar.
