About the Graduate School
Dear Graduate Students and Prospective Graduate Students,
I am sure that you will receive many words of greeting welcoming you to Aberdeen either for the first time or as you return for another year of graduate research or, even, as you consider coming to Aberdeen for your postgraduate studies. I am sure that everyone in the College would join me in welcoming your interest in postgraduate studies at Aberdeen or greeting you upon your arrival for a new year of research.
I would like to add my own words of welcome. The students of the College's Graduate School are a significant part of the College. As a group of over 1,000 postgraduate students, you comprise about 1 in 6 of the students in the College. For some of you, your time here will be limited to a year of taught-course study. Many of you, though, will be in Aberdeen for a longer period of time as you undertake independent research. Obviously, you are not just a 'group'; you are also individuals. We hope that we can make you personally welcome and ensure that your time in Aberdeen is beneficial, enjoyable and memorable. You will have many people willing and, probably, more able to help you than I am – your supervisors, support staff in your Schools and Departments, your fellow students. Still, please feel free to call upon me if I can be of assistance.
Most importantly of all – Welcome!
