The Ancient University of Aberdeen is the venue for the 44th Annual Summer School of the Society of Cartographers. The programme has interests for every delegate with its well-established mix of lectures, workshops, visits and social gatherings. Aberdeen city is not only the Oil Capital of Europe with the busiest civilian Heliport in the World, but also offers many opportunities for the visitor. A busy harbour, a two-mile long beach front, cliff coasts, golf courses and parks, are available, with a hinterland of castles, archaeological sites, the Malt Whisky Trail, and, only 50 miles away, the magnificent Cairngorm Mountains. The Summer School could thus be followed by a wider Scottish adventure.
Aberdeen offers easy access, being well connected to all parts of Britain, with air links to 15 airports in England, two in Ireland and many in the rest of Europe. Come to Aberdeen, meet cartographic colleagues, old and new, and explore your favorite subject!
The Summer School will take place in the St Marys Building. Lunches will be available, directly opposite, in the Hub, the University's exciting new dining, leisure and social facility. Accommodation is in Hillhead Halls, just beyond Seaton Park.

Look on the Publicity Page for an introductory Power Point presentation of the Venue area.
