What are the different appointments for?

Guidance Interviews

These sessions can be used for a range of activities from discussing your career options and exploring specific career ideas to identifying courses of action to realise your goals.  Two types of interview are available:

45 minute in-depth interview - You will normally see the careers adviser who looks after your subject. Please note that during the Autumn term these appointments may be limited to final year students.

Short interviews (30 minutes) - for CV scan or advice on draft application forms.

Quick queries with the Duty Adviser

These appointments are limited to 15 minutes per visit and are the ideal starting point if you have not spoken to a careers adviser before. They are particularly helpful for getting feedback on your CV and application forms and for asking quick questions. However, please note that we will give advice about content of your applications, but we do not offer a proof reading service so please check your work thoroughly before submitting for feedback. Additionally, if your query can't be covered in the time available, you may be advised to book a guidance appointment.

A Duty Adviser is available from 10.30am – 4.30pm on week days in the main information area. During vacation a Duty Adviser is available from 11.00am - 4.00pm on week days (closed 1.00-2.00pm for lunch). You can book a time for the current or next day.

In addition, on Thursday mornings during term-time, between 10.00am and 1.00pm, a Duty Adviser will be available in the Polwarth Building on the Foresterhill campus (2nd Floor Social Space). Please note that on 31st May we regret that there will not be a Careers Adviser available at Foresterhill, which means that the last Foresterhill Duty session for this semester will be on Thursday 7th June.  This term-time only service will resume after the summer vacation.  In the meantime guidance appointments are available at the Hub or by using our Virtual Adviser.
