Biotechnology can be classified as the use of biology, in all forms, to make useful products and processes. Many different industries use biotechnology to make products for a variety of uses such as biofuels, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. Industrial Biotechnology is a disruptive technology that is predicted to revolutionise the landscape of chemistry and life science industries. A significant growth of this sector in Scotland has been predicted with an anticipated 1500 new jobs being predicted.
The MSc in Industrial Biotechnology was the first collaborative MSc in this discipline. It was designed in partnership with industry, is awarded by the University of Strathclyde and delivered in collaboration with 8 Scottish HEIs. The course includes a range of core modules and electives which culminate in a 60 credit Masters level industrially relevant research project which is typically hosted with an industrial partner. Student travel costs for placement and off campus study events are reimbursed.
Course participants are recent graduates and early-career professionals from a variety of academic backgrounds all with a common desire to be challenged and a real passion for Industrial Biotechnology. SAMH is the Scottish Association for Mental Health and is Scotlands leading mental health charity. At SAMH we believe there is no health without mental health.
