Services for students
The Careers Service offers career guidance and information to all students at the University of Aberdeen and this is also extended to recent graduates and alumni. All staff, particularly Advisers of Study, will be interested in the range of both careers and co-curricular provision offered to undergraduates and taught postgraduates. This covers the following areas:

One-to-one guidance: including 15 minute discussions with the Duty Adviser (bookable online from the day before) and 30 or 45 minute Guidance Appointments. Students should visit the What We Do section of our website for more information.

Tailored sessions: Careers workshops/sessions on specific sectors, CVs, applications, interviews and more. These can be tailored by subject or School. Students should look out for these advertised within their academic School or discipline.
- Employability initiatives: Including ACHIEVE and the ED2550 'Careers Education Course'. To find out more on each of these click on the links above.
- Co-curricular opportunities: These are initiatives which enhance a student's degree and include, but are not restricted to: Work Placements, Study Abroad, Enterprise & Entrepreneurship, the BP Student Tutoring Scheme and the STAR Award.
- Work Placements: There is a dedicated Work Placement Team that sources local, national and international paid internships, summer placements and year-long placements.
- Work-Based Projects for Masters students: The 'Making the Most of Masters' team is dedicated to sourcing work-based projects for Masters students in collaboration with employers and organisations across a range of sectors. Please visit our website for more information and case studies.
- Careers Workshops, Events and Employer Presentations: These are held throughout each term. Students can access details and sign-up from our What's On section.
- Recruitment/Employer Fairs: These are held annually and include the Law Fair, Engineering & IT Fair, Finance & Management Fair and the North of Scotland Graduate Recruitment Fair.
- Vacancies: Being part of a shared vacancy service with most other HE institutions in Scotland ensures our students have access to a wide range of vacancies. Staff can assist in advertising these vacancies to relevant cohorts of students. For more details visit the Latest Jobs section.
- E-Guidance Service: This service offers online CV & application form checks, career planning advice and online career discussions. Find out more
- Information: The Careers Service has a well-stocked library within its open plan area on the 2nd Floor of the Hub. Students can find information on occupations, further study, work experience and making effective job applications. This is complemented by a comprehensive Virtual Library, containing in excess of 2,500 resources covering all aspects of career planning, including statistics on graduate first destinations and current labour market trends.
