The Aberdeen Internship

Since its creation in 2010, the Aberdeen Internship has provided an extensive range of placement opportunities within the University of Aberdeen.  These placements have given students an unparalleled insight into working within the University. Have a look at our Case Studies to see the kinds of projects students have previously completed.

2012 Arrangements

The closing date for applications to the Aberdeen Internship 2012 has now passed, and we regret no further applications can be accepted.

We intend that all interviews will be completed by 18 May 2012, and the Internships will run in tandem with each other, starting on Monday 11 June at 9.00am, and finishing on Friday 7 September 2012.

The Careers Service arranges a variety of personal and professional development sessions throughout the summer.

Information Session

An information session about the AI was held on 18 April 2012, with a PowerPoint presentation and a handout available to all attendees.

Eligibility to Apply

Applicants MUST be registered at the University of Aberdeen and in their penultimate year of undergraduate study, i.e. expecting to graduate in summer 2013. We regret that applications from students of other universities or other years of study will not be considered.

You may apply for as many projects as you wish: a separate application must be made for each project.

2012 Projects

Internships were available across the University.  We'll update this section later in the summer with progress made by the 2012 Aberdeen Interns on each of their internship placements.

The Aberdeen Internship was a finalist in the 2012 National Council of Work Experience annual awards for "Work Placement of the Year [Public Sector]" in recognition for its contribution to work experience when developing the Aberdeen Internship. Other finalists in this category included the Civil Service Fast Stream and GCHQ.  We received a finalist certificate at a formal presentation in London on 20 March 2012.
