Work Placements
Welcome to Work Placements!
Where are placements advertised?
A formal work placement will develop key employment skills and is valued by employers as it showcases your skills and can set you apart from other applicants. Work placements allow you to complete a set piece of work, or a short project, and allow you to enhance your employability skills (such as communication, business awareness, IT, teamwork and so on). Placements are offered during the summer vacation and in some cases can form part of the employer's graduate recruitment scheme. For more information on the range of work experience opportunities that are available, have a look at the work experience page.
The placements on these pages are for penultimate year undergraduate students (i.e. those planning to graduate in 2014).
Where are placements advertised?
Placements exclusively for students from the University of Aberdeen are advertised here. The placements are competitively awarded, highly regarded by employers, and application is usually through CV and covering letter. Students are supported during the recruitment process and throughout the placement. Employers providing exclusive placements are required to confirm that students will be covered by their employee liability insurance, and provide appropriate health and safety induction to the student.
Our jobs site has listings of local, national and international work placements. Register now to receive regular email alerts of relevant opportunities.
Information about the Aberdeen Internship is available here.
