Careers Education Course - ED2550

It is never too early to start thinking about possible career openings and your first graduate job. If you would like to explore new career options and ideas as part of your university curriculum you might like to consider registering for the Level II 15 credit careers education course, Career Development: Find Your Direction ED2550.  This is a university-wide course, available to both Arts & Science students. Frequently asked questions about the ED2550 course include: 

What is ED2550?

ED2550 is a Level II, second-half session 15 credit careers education course; the course explores career planning, job applications, skills development, recruitment methods, entrepreneurship and employability. The course is very practical in nature with contributions from local employers and other career professions.

Who is eligible to register for this course?

The course is open to all Level II students from across the three Colleges. Where degree programmes permit, Level III designated or ordinary degree students are also welcome on the course.

Whilst taking part in this interactive course students gain a clearer understanding of themselves and their options following graduation. The course also helps students to develop a wide range of employability skills requested by graduate recruiters.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed via continuous assessment (there is no end of course exam!) Students write a 2500 word job analysis report, deliver an oral presentation and carry out a CV construction exercise.

What is the course timetable?

This 12 week course consists of a 1 hour lecture (Tuesday 3-4 pm) plus ONE 2 hour workshop per week. Workshops are scheduled on a Thursday (11.00-13.00 or 15.00- 17.00) OR Friday (10.00-12.00).
