EconomicsRegulations and Codes of Practice
First Year CoursesSecond Year CoursesThird and Fourth Year Courses* To enter single or joint honours in Economics in academic year 2011/12, students must have achieved at least 240 credits overall, including passes (marks of 9 or above) in the following courses (or earlier equivalents): EC1005 (15), EC1505 (15), EC2002 (30) and EC2502 (30). * All of a junior honours student's credit points must be from level 3 courses (one of which must be EC3001 for the Economics Science degree stream). From 2005/2006, at least 75% of a senior honours student's credit points must be in level 4 courses. Thus, an honours student in their final year must either take four (30 credit) level 4 courses (one of which must be the dissertation) or take three (30 credit) level 4 courses (one of which must be the dissertation) and one (30 credit) level three course. These regulations apply equally to joint honours students, who would normally be expected to split their credit points each semester evenly between their two disciplines. So, for example, a joint Economics-Management student would normally take one 30 credit course from Economics and one 30 credit course from Management each semester. Full regulations are given in the "Guidebook to Level Three and Level Four Courses and Honours Regulations". Winter Semester 2011Third Year Courses
