General Information

Why Aberdeen?

The University of Aberdeen has a long and successful record of teaching and researching business-related disciplines. The University of Aberdeen Business School covers a range of discipline groups, such as, Economics, Management, Accountancy, Finance, Marketing, Property and Law. In all these areas we have staff with internationally recognised reputations and extensive experience of teaching graduate business programmes.

As part of the Association of Business Schools (ABS) we have access to expert advice and up to date information on developments in Business and Management to help improve the quality of our programmes.

The Graduate school offers full support to students to develop their CVs, interview skills and succeed in assessment centres. We have links with a number of recruitment agents who specialise in vacancies in all the subjects that we teach.

Structure of our Masters courses

The programmes consist of a number of compulsory core modules prior to specialist study pathways. The course structure for the first semester is designed to address a broad range of business-related subjects. Some elements of these core modules are 'shared' by different programmes giving students in different areas the opportunity to learn from each other. In the second semester, students take different routes depending on their programme of choice.

The final stage of the MSc programmes generally culminate with a dissertation, requiring students to apply their academic knowledge to a work related subject. MSc Real Estate and MSc International Real Estate Markets have the option to either undertake a dissertation or continue to an intensive summer school followed by the completion of a Case Study. The students on MBA programmes continue to an intensive summer school held over a five-week period, with one module per week (and a one week break in the middle).

All taught modules are assessed by a combination of written examinations and coursework.
