Accountancy and Finance
The Accountancy and Finance group has developed a reputation for high
quality research in both those distinct, but related, disciplines. The
group have a national and international reputation with staff being at
the forefront of research in both subject areas. The Accountancy and
Finance grouping was awarded a 4B in the Research Assessment Exercise
of 2001.
Research Activity
Accountancy
Members of the accountancy group research in areas that include:
social and environmental accounting; international accounting; conceptual
problems in accounting, using tools from analytic philosophy; and
financial accounting.
Finance
The interests of the Finance group lie in the areas of institutional
and empirical finance and includes topics such as: disclosure and
regulatory issues; empirical finance; and the relationships between financial
markets and the real economy.
Publications
Members of the Accountancy and Finance group publish extensively
in leading journals, are on the editorial boards of such journals,
and are regular
participators in national and international conferences.
Postgraduate
Research
PhD research in Accountancy and Finance is ESRC
recognised within the SCOTDOC PhD programme. Members of the group have
substantial supervisory
experience working closely with PhD students in the development of
their thesis.
