Fifteen prayers ('The Fifteen Os') of St Bridget, continued

Prayer, O Ihesu Christi celestis, continued.

St Bridget invokes the memory of Christ's words on the cross: 'Father, forgive those who crucify me, for they know not what they do' (see Luke, 23:34) and asks that through his mercy and through the memory of his passion, she may have full remission of her sins.

Prayer, O Ihesu vera.

The fourth of fifteen prayers of St Bridget to Jesus Christ (Oratio secunda, HE, p 77). She invokes the memory of the torments inflicted on Christ by his enemies during his crucifixion, and asks that through his suffering, she may receive his protection against her enemies, visible and invisible.

O Ihesu vera libertas\ angelorum paradisus deliciarum. Memen\to terroris et horroris quos sustine\bas quando omnes inimici tui quasi leones fe\rocissimi te circumsteterunt et colaphizacionibus\ conspuicionibus ungulacionibus ceterisque inau\ditis penis te molestaverunt, et per omnia con\tumeliosa verba dira verbera durissimaque tormen\ta, Domine Ihesu Christe et per penas quibus omnes inimici\ tui afflixerunt deprecor te ut liberes me ab omnibus\ inimicis meis visibilibus et invisibilibus et do\nes michi sub umbra alarum tuarum protectionem\
