Folio 21v

Commemorations of the saints, continued.

Saint George.

Hymn, Georgi martir inclite.

A hymn commemorating St George (see HL, 3, p 317). The most chivalrous of knights, he rescued a king's daughter from a dragon, after which she gave herself to God (GL, p 234). The author asks that we may be admitted to heaven, cleansed of our misdeeds, there to praise Christ.
