Unique Environment

Biological Sciences staff have offices in the Zoology and Cruikshank Buildings in the heart of the University's Old Aberdeen campus. Modern teaching laboratories are housed within the Zoology building, and lectures and seminars are presented in state of the art lecture rooms within Old Aberdeen.

The Botanic Gardens and historic buildings in Old Aberdeen offer quiet surroundings for meeting friends between lectures or studying. The Zoology Museum and Botanic Gardens also underpin many course practicals, and provide educational facilities for local schools through the University's Natural History Centre.

Within walking distance of Old Aberdeen, you can take a break from your studies to watch winter flights of geese passing over to feed on Aberdeenshire's rich farmland, wander down to the Bridge of Don Local Nature Reserve to see harbour seals basking at low tide, or try to spot the bottlenose dolphins that regularly feed off Aberdeen harbour.

For students keen on outdoor activities and travelling further afield to see wildlife and wild landscapes, Aberdeen is hard to beat. A sample of key sites that can be reached by public transport from Aberdeen are highlighted in our pages on The Great Outdoors.
