Help with using the Bestiary Resource
Recommended specifications for working with the bestiary
To get the most from this resource we suggest the following specification for your browser and computer:
1. This website uses scalable fonts, this mean you can alter the size of the text within your browser. Internet explorer users click view - text size and increase or decrease dependent on you preference.
1. Set the colour depth of your computer to 32,000 colours or greater as the images from the bestiary have been mounted as full colour JPEGs and this will help to maximise quality.
2. Use a browser such as Netscape 1.1 or greater that is capable of displaying tables as significant portions of the information are laid out in tabular form particularly the transcription and translation sections along with the analysis page.
3. To enable you to view the tabular information easily without having to use the horizontal scroll bar set your screen resolution to 800 by 600 pixels or greater.
How the information is presented
The information is presented in two strands, a commentary strand and a transcription and translation strand. The commentary strand contains the art history material and the close-ups of the miniatures. It may be accessed from item 5 in the table of contents and is presented on a folio by folio basis. The transcription and translation strand contains exactly that and may be accessed from item 6 on the table of contents.
It is possible to change strands at any time on any individual folio. This information is represented graphically below.
