Comment: The Aberdeen Bestiary came to Marischal College as part of a larger bequest (comprising c1350 printed books and manuscripts) made by Thomas Reid (d.1624), Latin Secretary to James VI.

The manuscript still carries a number of College Library pressmarks, including the earliest (from the seventeenth century), 2.B. XV Sc
