The Audio-Visual
Unit (AVU) provides Audio -Visual Equipment and technical support
for University Departments, both at Old Aberdeen and Marischal College.
We also assist in the King's College Conference Centre.
All Audio
Visual provision at The Medical School Campus is provided and maintained
by Medical Illustration.
The
Service
Technicians:
The unit consists of six technicians. We come from a variety of backgrounds,
and have wide ranging skills, from sound engineering to data projection, photography
and video-conferencing.
Types
of Equipment: There is fixed equipment in some teaching areas, whilst
equipment has to be installed temporarily in others. We can usually
advise you over the phone about equipment in specific rooms, or you can check online on our equipment pages.
Demonstrations:
As well as providing equipment, the unit offers demonstrations of equipment.
A quick practice run-through will ensure you are familiar with the equipment
and will deliver a smooth, professional presentation. We usually advise this in advance of using an unfamiliar room, or new install.
Advice:
The unit can offer advice on purchase/renewal of Audio -Visual Equipment,
and we can usually recommend a choice of competitive sources.
Loan:
University Societies can also borrow some of the equipment, although
they are usually asked to collect/deliver the equipment themselves.
There is usually a small charge incurred by Student Societies. Details
of prices are on our charges page.
Projects:
The AVU can get involved in projects, such as open days and special
events in Departments, as long as we are given sufficient notice.
The Equipment
The pool
of equipment includes Data Projectors, Slide Projectors, Overhead Projectors,
Camcorders, Videos, DVD players, Monitors, Public Address systems, microphones to
name a few.

Bookings
Should
be made well in advance (at least one week) to ensure availability, especially
in the case of Data Projectors.

or you can got to our bookings page. This
way we have a printed record of the booking. For this reason we do not
accept telephone bookings. If the booking is fine, we will send you
a confirmation email.
