e-Scan Book Scanner

In addition to the MFDs around campus which allow scanning of documents and book pages and the OpticBook Scanners in the Assistive Technology Booths, we also have an e-Scan Book Scanner. The e-Scan is located in Assistive Technology Booth 108 on the first floor of the University Library.

With the e-Scan you can scan books and documents up to 20.5 x 14 inches (A3) and four inches thick. It uses a simple and intuitive touchscreen interface making it quick and easy to use.

The e-Scan also has built-in OCR software, making it one of the simplest ways to create accessible PDFs with searchable text that can be read by text-to-speech software.  However, it is suitable for the production of short, simple documents only. For longer or more complex documents, we recommend you use Omnipage to recognise text in your scanned documents. Omnipage is installed in all the Assistive Technology Booths.
