We are lead straight into the funky uneven rhythm of the guitar and drums and sultry vocals of the pair right from the start of Satellite. This continuous beat doesn’t pause, not even between verse and chorus, everything merges into one. The catchy chorus is worthy of a sing-along, even a person like myself who has never heard The Kills before can hum along so easily! A small guitar solo doesn’t even stop the rhythm but keeps the excitement rising, until the REV Gospel Collective sing alongside the band at the climax of the song. The catchy melody of the chorus sung with the help of this gospel group creates something a little more special than just another rock song.
This cheeky single is described as “edgy” by critics – they certainly have that right. This song is so cool, creating a stylishly rock image for the band, making even the most inexperienced rock fan want to hear more.
