18th ARTIN Meeting

University of Aberdeen, Friday September 26 - Saturday September 27, 2008

The eighteenth meeting of Algebra and Representation Theory In the North (ARTIN) will be held in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Aberdeen. Funding is coming from the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, the London Mathematical Society and Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust.

This is a joint international meeting with Representation Theory Across the Channel network.

10:00-11:00: Anton Alexeev (Universite de Geneve), Drinfeld's associators and the Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture
11:00-11:30: Coffee break
11:30-12:30: Robert Wilson (Queen Mary, University of London), A 3-dimensional octonionic representation of Conway's group

All the talks will be in Lecture Theatre 2, Meston Building, ground floor.

Conference Dinner

There will be a dinner on Friday night at a location still to be determined.

We have funds available to subsidise accommodation and travel expenses for participants, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. This year ARTIN also has a special grant supporting Scottish based PhD students.
