Theory and Practice


Theory and Practice at Abeerdeen examines the structures behind archaeological thought, the development of archaeological theory, contemporary relevance, and engages in an ongoing theoretical discussion within the subject, developing new theoretical as well as scientific models. These themes are tackled through research projects investigating the links between past and present, social identity constructions, heritage, materiality, empiricism, the relation between archaeology and politics etc. In archaeological investigations the theoretical aspects of archaeological practice is strongly emphasised.
