Sacred Landscapes in Western Siberia

Sacred Landscapes in Western Siberia

Dr. Peter Jordan

During my PhD – later published as a book - I conducted remote ethnoarchaeological fieldwork in Western Siberia, investigating how indigenous Khanty hunting and fishing communities engage with animals, objects and the local topography to create and inhabit cultural landscapes, which reflect local spirituality, colonial history and also adaptations to northern ecology (Project funded by Hossein Farmy; Royal Anthropological Institute; Finno-Yugrian Society).
