MEETINGS

Meeting 1: Workshop to define the case study areas.

The first meeting was hosted by the Fins in Turku in April 2001. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the candidate study sites, to present the reasons for their selection and to agree on a course of action for the Socioreview, Bioreview and Environmental review workpackages. The goals were met and a plan was agreed by all for the following year.

Meeting 2: Annual co-ordination meeting and bio-, socio, and enviroreview workshops:

Our second meeting was hosted by the Scots in Aberdeen in October 2001. The objectives of the meeting were to co-ordinate the submission of reports to the Commision and to discuss the input and outcomes of the review workpackages.

Meeting 3: Sociodata, Biodata, Synthesis and Environmental workshops:

Our third meeting was hosted by the Portuguese in Faro in April 2002. The agenda for the meeting included workshops on the data collection workpackages, another to evaluate the progress in the environmental review and another discussing the input of all disciplines into the Synthesis workpackage.

 Meeting 4: Socioanalysis, Bioanalysis, Synthesis and Environmental workshops:

Our fourth meeting was hosted by the IMBC in Heraklion in October 2002. The agenda for the meeting included workshops on the data collection and analysis workpackages, another to evaluate the progress in the environmental review and another discussing the progress into Synthesis workpackage. We had a small workshop with industry and enjoyed a presentation from Lamans Management Service SA.

 
 PROGRESS: November 2002
  • Questionnaire interviews for the Sociodata workpackage were completed in June 2002.
  • The report for the Environmental review workpackage is in the final stages of preparation before submission to the Commission.
  • Each partner has started to conduct the interviews with stakeholders for the synthesis workpackage.

 COMINGS & GOINGS

Changes to the original AQCESS team:
  • Miss Nicky Spencer joined the Aberdeen University team on the 1st January 2001.
  • Mr. Argyris Kapantagakis is no longer part of the IMBC AQCESS team while Dr. Nadia Papadopoulou, Dr. Christopher Smith and Paraskevi Pitta have joined.
  • Ms Deirdre Tobin left the CRC and no longer works on the Irish AQCESS team. Cathy Buchanan, Harry Sealy and Niamh Connolly have all left the CRC and been replaced by Patricia Clayton, Cathal O'Mahony and Val Cummins.
  • The ADC is no longer involved with the AQCESS project.
  • Cristina Pitta and Ms Isabel Noronha joined the Portuguese AQCESS team. Antonio Marques left the AQCESS team and was replaced by Pedro Pintassilgo.
  • Mr. Asmo Honkanen and Mr Jarno Virtanen are no longer working on the Finnish AQCESS team.
  • Mr. Jim Kinnear and Miss Joanna Martin joined the Aberdeen Marine Laboratory AQCESS team.
  • In 2002, Dr. Panos Pantazis and Mrs. Stavroula Aifanti joined the Greek AQCESS team in the University of Thessali while Evagelia Yannouli joined the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Professor Michalis Karydis and Assistant Professor Yiorgos Tsirtsis have both left the AQCESS team in the Aegean University. Ms. Venetia Kourkouta left the AQCESS team at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the end of 2002.
