 Service Users

The Aberdeen Pain Research Collaboration is fortunate to have a dedicated service user panel who have been willing to give up their time in order to ensure that the research which we are conducting meets the needs of the general public. The chair of the panel is Ron Marsh.

SERVICE USER GROUP

The specific objectives of the panel are to:

  • consider and help develop proposals of member;
  • comment upon the lay summary and the proposal, where appropriate;
  • review and comment upon ethical applications (lay summary and full proposal) along with consent forms/information sheets;
  • assist in the development of questions to be used within questionnaires and interview schedules;
  • act as advisors to individuals or groups planning research proposals through to the submission of grant applications, where appropriate.

The committee holds regular meetings and the secretary of the group is Carrie Stewart.

The collaboration is also a member of the James Lind Alliance. The Alliance aims to identify the most important gaps in knowledge about the effects of treatments, and has been established to bring patients and clinicians together in partnerships to identify and prioritise the unanswered questions that they agree are most important.
