Andrew W Dobson, BSc CEng FIMechE


After graduating from Glasgow University in 1966, Andrew completed graduate training at the Harland Engineering Company in Alloa, which became part of Weir Pumps Limited.  Andrew remained at Weir Pumps in Alloa, holding positions in production management and research and development until moving to Aberdeen in 1981 to join Baker Oil Tools (UK) as a Development Engineer.  With Baker, Andrew was involved in design and development of new products for downhole applications.  He was Region Engineering Manager for Baker UK Region from 1994 until 1999, Engineering Director at e2TECH, a Baker/Shell joint venture company set up to commercialise new technology and returned to Baker Oil Tools in 2001 as Project Manager and Marketing Services Manager.  He retired in February 2007.

He has been active in The Aberdeen Mechanical Society and The Institution of Mechanical Engineers in Aberdeen for many years.  He is a past chairman of IMechE sAberdeen Area.
