About us Our talks are open to the public and visitors are welcome. They are given
by professionals on subjects in which they have a particular interest and expertise. Attendance can be credited
towards the CPD log of practising engineers. See the information panel to the left for this year's programme. We would like to thank publicly both The Robert Gordon University, where our talks usually take place, and the University of Aberdeen, where talks are sometimes given and who host this web-site. One of the invisible benefits of the AMS to the local community has been a bringing together of those with engineering interests from the local Universities, from local industry, notably the oil industry, and from those providing local services with an engineering component. Perhaps not surprisingly, the professional engineering body in Britain we have the strongest links with is the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (I. Mech. E.). Our logo, above, featuring the image of James Watt, has been used since the foundation. James Watt was not only a founding figure of the industrial revolution but also a skilled craftsman and diverse inventor.
