Creation

The Aberdeen Institute for Coastal Science and Management began in October 2002 within the University of Aberdeen and is located in the College of Physical Sciences.

Its founding Director is Professor William Ritchie who returned to Aberdeen from Lancaster University to resume his previous research, consultancy and managerial interests which had developed strongly in the 1970s and 1980s in Aberdeen.
