Composition
Following a review of the effectiveness of the Senate, the composition of the Senate and following subsequent changes to the number of Schools in the College of Physical Sciences and the merger with the Rowett Research Institute is as follows:
a) Ex officiis
- Principal (Convener)
- Senior Vice-Principal
- Heads of College (3)
- Other Vice-Principals (5)
- Heads of School (13)
- College Directors of Teaching & Learning (3)
- College Directors of Research (3)
- Heads of Graduate Schools (3)
- Conveners of the Academic Standards Committees (2)
- Directors of Undergraduate Programmes (7, one of whom is currently the Convener of the ASC((Ug))

b) Elected Members
- 80 teaching and research (including honorary and part-time) staff (i.e. approximately twice the number of ex officio members excluding current holders of Established Chairs) elected approximately pro rata by, and on the basis of, the total electorate within each School (see below), to serve for a four-year period, with half retiring every second year and with retiring members eligible for re-election for one further four-year period.
