The University of Aberdeen Medical School shares a site with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Many elderly people with acute medical problems are admitted through this hospital, but there are also over 3000 acute admissions each year to Woodend Hospital, which is located one mile away. The clinical department of Medicine for the Elderly serves both hospitals, and elderly patients entering the acute hospital system via both sites are being studied as part of the ACMEplus project.
