Settling In

Crombie, Johnston & Elphinstone Halls

The catered halls of Crombie & Johnston are smack bang in the centre of the university campus. Elphinstone Road Flats and the new Kings Hall complex are also ideally located for lectures on campus. You're a 15-20 minute walk from the bright lights of Aberdeen and a short bus ride, on the no.20, to Hillhead and the city centre.

Do a spot of shopping on the High Street, stock up on books at Blackwells, pick up a pasty from the Auld Toon Bakery or pop in for a swift one at St Machar Bar.

If you fancy a bite to eat then drop by the Hub where the food court offers up over 20 different dishes daily from its 5 eateries. There is also Cafe Zeste, Bishop's Table and Tiki Cafe or treat you and your liver to super source smoothie healthy refreshment after a big breakfast - both available in the Hub.

We also have a study room in Crombie.

Hillhead Halls

Life is all about compromises so choosing Hillhead will mean you might have to walk 20 minutes to get to the main campus.

But you've got a whole bunch of other stuff right on your doorstep. You're a 30 minute walk from the bright lights of Aberdeen and a short bus ride, on the no.20, to the city centre.

There are all-weather footie pitches and tennis courts opposite the main entrance. And if you don't want to brave the cold then book in for a free game of badminton or table tennis at the indoor sports hall.

After all that exertion you might want to quench your thirst at The Watering Hole, one of the most popular student bars in Aberdeen. It's cheap, it's lively and it's the place to meet. There are live sports, quiz nights, karaoke, Ceilidhs and promotional party nights.

Get your head down in the computer rooms; you'll find three in the Central Building.

Stock up at the mini-market on all those cans of beans, groceries and stationery. It's licensed and it's open 7 days a week.

There's only so long you can get away with not washing your clothes and unfortunately the laundrettes are open all day. It's also a great meeting place, used by lots of fellow residents so make sure your pants aren't pink!
