The Cardiology Unit in Aberdeen is fortunate in being very well equipped and provides both local and tertiary care to the North of Scotland. Currently there are 7 Consultants, 2 other Senior Doctors, 7 Registrars and 2 Research Fellows together with the junior training grades. In addition there is an active Research Department which is involved in a great number of projects ranging from basic science to electrophysiology. Cardiology is one of the most exciting major medical specialities and the unit in Aberdeen is able to provide excellent experience of a high-pressure speciality. There is also the opportunity to assist with Research projects and to learn the principles of applying evidence based medicine. There are several postgraduate meeting every week which provide further stimulation!
