Based within the School of Medicine and Dentistry this is an exciting opportunity for aspiring clinical academics who wish to pursue a top flight academic career. Successful candidates will already hold National Training Numbers and will have an established track record in academic achievement.

The clinical lecturer post will allow successful candidates to undertake a paid 3-year integrated full-time research period leading to a PhD with the University of Aberdeen.  Upon appointment, the successful candidates will be allocated a dedicated academic mentor in addition to their PhD and clinical supervisors; this will ensure a smooth progression through the different stages of the programme and optimal academic development of the Lecturer.

The posts have the full approval of the Postgraduate Deanery which can be contacted for further details of clinical programmes; candidates are strongly advised to discuss their application with their existing Training Programme Director/Postgraduate Dean. The post holder will not be expected to choose the specific area of research immediately at the start of the post, but early commitment to a research interest will enable early commencement of any project.

These exciting posts are open to all medical specialties, including public health medicine.  Where appropriate, successful candidates will be encouraged (and opportunities sought for them) to spend time at international centres of excellence where this may enhance their academic standing during their PhD time.  After completing the work for their PhD, the post holders will be expected to return to clinical training in the North of Scotland Deanery on an 80% clinical; 20% academic basis for the remainder of their time leading towards CCT.
