Jennifer Sewel joined the University in 1997 and has worked within Research & Innovation Services, Registry, and Policy Planning & Governance.  She was appointed Director of Policy, Planning & Governance in October 2009.  A graduate of the University of Aberdeen (LLB, DLP) the Open University (BA), and the Institute of Education University of London (MBA), prior to working within the HE sector she worked within the civil service and the financial services sector.

The remit of Policy, Planning & Governance supports the University’s governing body, the Court, and the University’s institutional governance committees and advisory groups. It assists and advises the University’s senior academic management in fulfilling their executive responsibilities, and in the development, implementation and monitoring of institutional planning and strategy.  The section ensures the University’s adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements including Records Management, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Equality and Diversity.
