Ms Irene Bews

Irene Bews joined the University of Aberdeen as Deputy Finance Director in 1997, and was promoted to Director in 2001. Prior to this she spent 13 years with Shell, first as a trainee, then a qualified, accountant. Her final two years were spent working for Shell International in The Hague, as Financial Controller for the European wide IT operating company. With a turnover in excess of £200 million, the Director of Finance is responsible for the financial sustainability of the University, as well as dealing with the regulatory environment. The section also deals with insurance, investments, pensions, procurement and central printing.
