Councillor Crockett represents constituents in Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone. He was born in Aberdeen and educated at Aberdeen Academy, Aberdeen University, Liverpool University and the Open University. He gained an MA (Hons), MA (Postgrad), Diploma in Race and Community Relations. His special interests are Education, Equality, Migration and Economic Development. He was previously the Chief Executive of Grampian Racial Equality Council, Scotland's housing association Ombudsman and a secondary school headteacher. He has also worked off-shore and in the chemical industry. He is married to Shona and has two children at university as well as two sons from a previous marriage. He was a governor of Robert Gordon University, vice-chair of Langstane Housing Association, a board member of Scottish Enterprise Grampian as well as holding many other voluntary positions. He is currently on the board of Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. His interests include reading and coaching rugby.
