Following careers with the British High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, and the World Bank Group in Washington DC, Kathryn McPhail is currently a Director at the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) in London. In this role she led the development of a sustainable development framework, implemented by ICMM companies, which comprise most global private sector mining companies.
She has authored and published over 40 articles on project impact evaluations in land settlement, irrigation development, agriculture and rural development; public consultation; social assessment; corporate governance in the extractive industries sector; revenue management; and partnerships at global, national and local levels.
Born and brought up in East Africa, Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen (M.A. (Hons.) Political Studies) and of the University of Edinburgh (LL.M).
