JMVP Notes

This week´s to do...
3D Models
Things have gone quiet with this - only Dr. Pat Smith responded to say that the tracheoesophageal fistula was not displaying. This had happened previously, and I wrote to Douglas who got it re-instated. However, there seems to be communication problem with the Argosy server techies - because it was removed again. I have written back getting it reinstated. (It's a demonstration why the materials need be stored on our local servers.) However, more pressing is to try and get some discussion from the subject experts about what would be required so we can begin to knock about prices.
Dr. Derek Scott
Enterocyte cells. Started looking at Blender in earnest on Tuesday. Also see: " Powerpoint/Video" (below) Learning Blender is my priority at present. I feel a fairly sophisticated facility with Blender is going to be required as currently we have no means of creative production and the JMVP is a non-starter without the ability to create content.
OSG Development
Quiet for now - need to do some reading of OSG-Users.
Powerpoint/Video
Managed to get this successfully completed and apparently it was a success. From my point of view, it was OK, but better, during the course of its creation, down a blind alley as far as the presentation was concerned, I discovered Open Source video editing software, and spent the weekend - the snowey Saturday - making a video with my phone. (Be warned, I haven't got my compression setting s correct for streaming as yet but See: Snow Scenes ( I want to be able to display this directly on this page so I am seeking the correct compression.)
As I learn Blender, I think the Video Editing will come in handy.
Last thing yesterday before I left I got this smaller movie - 15fps; 800kbps; 320x480; Streamed Flash movie. Very blocky, but with good sound. Just a start, as far as stringing all the software together.
The original uncompressed movie is about 2Gbytes AVI, the first compressed movie above is 64.8Mb, this one has compressed it down to 10.2Mb. But actually that's meaningless to me at present - in terms of what's a good bitrate to use regularly.

I've just about got a workflow for Video editing AviSynth/VirtualDub->ffmpeg. However, videos taken on my phone are not really relevant to JMVP - the compression will be different for Blelnder generated stereo imagery - probably I would find ideal settings on some animé forum. But first I have to model Enterocyte cells en locale - something to test with.
Over the weekend I compiled ffmpeg - here's how
In theory I know how to generate side-by-side movies with the suite I have collected - byt, I've still to test the theory - that's for next week.
Meeting with Phil Lavery
Cancelled till further notice.
Phil has in the meantime put up several useful "tutorials" on Present3D concerning models, their positioning, and applying videos to them. So I look forward to working that in to the above learning too. ( Thanks, Phil! Very handy and timely. :-)
